Publicity

We will need to get together and figure out how we can imporve the publicity for our next productions. Leaving it all up to Jane is not fair to her. How and What can we do to impove this.

  1. Here's a few ideas I've thought about for promoting our Plays and gaining greater public awareness...
Personal contact with local media and businesses to update them on events...we can have a sign up sheet for people willing to make these contacts...
Effective PR will take a team effort...a PR team with an outreach plan for encouraging participation of and hopefully donations from businesses in our area...
I'd like to invite local restaurants to donate food for intermission, we could advertise for them and it's a win/win...

  2. I definitely want to be part of the "ad group" so we can simply get out the word to as many places (local and not-so-local) beginning at least six weeks before the performances. I have worked in sales/advertising, so I'm ready to get organized with others who are interested. Love the idea of having restaurants donate food in exchange for advertising for them. Nice, Candice!

  3. Fabulous Betsy! great to see your interest!
I agree the 6 week mark is the perfect timing...I believe local restaurants will be eager to participate in our ventures...
pleaase take a look at all the sponsers for the recent 'Pumpkin Roll' at NCRD and you'll see businesses from Seaside to Tillamook on the list...together we can do this!

  4. I'm not a Riverbend Player but since meeting Candice, she has enlightened me about Community Theater and I am a good observer. If The Riverbend Players want to grow and from what I've seen and heard, the members want exactly that, then promotion is the key! There are lots of things that can be done and unless people work for it, get out there and do some networking, the group will remain status quo. Just looking at other groups around the country can stand as a good example of what can be done through advertisers, donations, benefactors and even government grants. Obviously people care about having a performing arts venue in their community and this area isn't any different, but to remain invisable, or not very well defined, isn't going to cut it.

In my mostly unbiased opinion (okay, Candice might've had a nano-bit of influence on me) I would like to see The Riverbend Players become a full-fledged Community Theater with a real stage, a permanent place to perform, and all the accoutrement's that go with it. IT IS DOABLE!

    Just my 2 cents.
